Dr. Nayeem Esmail

About Dr. Esmail
Dr. Nayeem Esmail was Born and raised in East Africa (Rwanda), Dr. Esmail immigrated to Canada in 1996 and began his training at McGill University.
Dr. Esmail’s approach to oral and maxillofacial surgery is inclusive of his experience as a trained surgeon and his experience as a patient: Dr. Esmail strives to make a positive impact on every patient he treats by making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and informed.
After graduating from McGill University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Dr. Esmail attended Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Esmail began his professional career by completing a four-year surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and serving as Chief Resident at Washington Hospital Center.
Dr. Esmail is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. His residency training has equipped him with the knowledge and skills in a wide scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with special interests in dental implants and tissue engineering, corrective jaw surgery and trauma, as well as facial cosmetic procedures. He has also conducted extensive research on sleep apnea.
Dr. Esmail has a passion for teaching as well as learning advanced techniques. He continues to keep updated with the newest advances in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is the provider of continuing education for dentists and dental assistants in BC. He lectures on such topics as dental implants, sleep apnea, and anesthesia. He is also a part-time clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia Dental School.
Dr. Esmail is also involved in many professional organizations and is a member of the College of Dental Surgeons of BC Sedation Committee.
Dr. Esmail enjoys volunteering in the community and has participated in several medical mission trips to Asia, Africa and South America. He speaks many languages, being fluent in French, Kutchi, and Swahili. He enjoys staying active through sports (tennis, volleyball), yoga and outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, running. When he has time off, he and his wife like to travel and explore new places, especially those with good food and wine for tasting.

About Dr. Girn
Dr. Jaspal Girn is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
He feels privileged to be able to practice full-scope oral & maxillofacial surgery since 2009, in the same neighbourhood he was raised in and his family still resides. Dr. Girn attended junior high school at Moscrop Secondary and then senior high school at Burnaby Central Secondary.
Dr. Girn completed his undergraduate training at the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular Biology. He continued his education and obtained a Master of Science degree in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He completed a scientific thesis in diabetes and drug therapy.
He received his D.M.D. from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia in 2002. During his dental training, he developed a keen interest in oral surgery and decided to pursue specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He completed his surgical residency training at Emory University School of Medicine’s Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Atlanta Georgia. He received extensive training in advanced oral surgical procedures (impacted wisdom teeth, dental implants, and bone grafting), facial trauma and reconstructive surgery (complex facial fractures and lacerations), orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), facial augmentation (chin and cheek implants), maxillofacial tumor and reconstructive surgery, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, and general anesthesia.
Dr. Girn pursued further subspecialty training and completed an accredited fellowship program in Implantology and Bone grafting/reconstruction at the Ohio State University. This fellowship provided him with extensive surgical experience to provide patients with successful and functional implants. He also has proficiency with the procedures for CT-guided minimally invasive surgery for implant placement.
Dr. Girn firmly believes in having strong patient rapport and trust when providing surgical care.
