Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium root that is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a natural tooth. It serves as an anchor to support either individual, multiple or an entire arch of replacement teeth.
Why Dental Implants?
Here are some of the most important benefits that dental implant treatment provides
Dental implants closely resemble natural teeth. They look, feel and function like natural teeth.
Dental implants help preserve bone that otherwise would naturally resorb when teeth are lost or extracted.
Dental implants have long-term success with a success rate well over 95%. With proper oral health care, dental implants can last up to a lifetime
Dental implants allows patients to regain their confidence in eating, smiling and speaking
Treatment Procedure
Dental implant treatment has the power to transform the quality of life of patients. Find out why dental implants have been considered as a preferred method of treatment to replace missing teeth.
Consultation Day
- At your initial consultation with one of our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, we will assess your condition.
- X-rays or CBCT scans will be taken at this appointment in order to create surgical implant guides.
- Together a personalized treatment plan will be created, and a preferred anesthesia method will be chosen.
Surgery
- Your chosen anesthesia method will be administered before starting the surgery to ensure you do not feel any discomfort during the procedure.
- The surgical procedure for dental implant placements takes about 30 to 60 minutes for singular implants.
- For multiple implant placements, the surgery can take from 2 to 3 hours.
- Once the surgery is finalized, you will be given time to rest before a driver can take you home.
Recovery
- After your surgery, you will return home to begin the healing process.
- You may have been outfitted with a temporary crown to wear during this time.
- We have found that many of our patients are back to their regular routines after just a couple of weeks; however, the fusion of the implant with the jaw bone will take a bit longer. This amount of healing time varies depending on the quality and quantity of bone in the jaw as well as a few other factors. Your doctor will discuss all of this with you so that you are fully informed before your procedure takes place.
- Follow-up care appointments are often scheduled to ensure that you are healing well.
Abutment placement
- After the initial phase of healing, the oral surgeon will place an abutment (support post) onto your dental implant during one of your follow-up visits.
- The abutment is the piece that will connect your new crown to your implant.
Crown placement
- The final phase of dental implant treatment is the placement of a custom-created crown on your dental implant by your dentist.
- You’re now ready to reap the benefits of having chosen dental implant treatment; A full smile, no more limiting food choices and a restored confidence.
FAQ
At your initial consultation, one of our oral and maxillofacial surgeons will thoroughly examine you and assess whether you are a candidate for dental implants. If you are not an ideal candidate at the moment, there are other options, such as bone grafting to improve the foundation in your jaw. To find out if dental implants are an ideal treatment for you, you can book an appointment here.
Once your doctor has indicated that you have healed enough, you can brush and floss your dental implants just like you would your natural teeth. Be sure to see your family dentist regularly to help ensure your implants last a very long time.
Once your implants are in place, they will serve you well for many years if you take care of them and keep your mouth healthy. This means taking the time for good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) and keeping regular appointments with your dental specialists.
Every patient is different, and there are many factors that contribute to post-surgical healing time. Your age, healing abilities, and oral and overall health are the main factors that affect the duration of your recovery period. A full recovery from dental implant surgery may take between three and six months – this accounts for the time it will take for the titanium implant post to integrate with the bone in your jaw. The bone integration is what provides the permanent, lifelong benefit of this tooth restoration, allowing the implants to become just like the roots of natural teeth. However, you should be able to get back to your normal routine far before complete healing has occurred.
Dental implants may seem expensive, but they are an incredible long-term value. The exact cost of your dental implant placement depends on a few factors, such as the number of implants you will be receiving and if you will require bone grafting or extractions to prepare for your implant surgery. Your insurance coverage will also be a factor in estimating the final cost. We will assist you in estimating what your payments will be once we evaluate all the factors in your case.
An oral surgeon is the dental professional that has the most experience and training in the surgical procedures required to place dental implants. Your general dentist usually provides temporary and permanent replacement teeth (custom crowns). Both doctors will work together to plan and implement your dental implant process, and in some cases, other dental specialists may help with your care.

- The duration of wearing braces depends on how long it takes to shift your teeth into an ideal positioning before corrective jaw surgery.
Surgery
- Corrective Jaw Surgery is carried out in a hospital setting, and it can last anywhere from one to four hours. Hospital stays of one to three days are normal.
Recovery
- Recovery may take from two weeks to one month after surgery. Return to normal chewing function may take up to two months, and full function may take up to one year.

Wisdom Teeth Removal
Our highly trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons- Dr. Nayeem Esmail and Dr. Jaspal Girn- will examine you and assess whether your wisdom teeth present a problem at the moment.
Why Wisdom Teeth Removal?
Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, typically erupt into the mouth between the ages of 17-25.
When a tooth does not have enough space to properly erupt into the gums of the mouth it is said to be impacted. Due to the various issues that may arise with impacted wisdom teeth, removal is often the indicated course of action.
Most common reasons for wisdom teeth removal
Impacted wisdom teeth, or wisdom teeth that cannot erupt into the gums of the mouth
